Course Syllabus
Course Description:
This course provides practical and valid information about solutions to managerial problems through research findings, theory and current successful practices. Detailed analysis of basic managerial functions including planning, organizing, staffing, leading and controlling is made. Emphasis is placed on the technical, interpersonal, conceptual, diagnostic and political managerial skills needed to succeed as a manager in a domestic or global business.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

Evaluate the importance of multinational corporations and outsourcing in international business.

Examine the demands that information technology places on the manager’s job.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS AND ASSIGNMENTS

- After reading the Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the
related checklist found in Modules/Getting Started by end of day Thursday of week 1.

- The student is required to provide a thread of 250–500 words in response to the
provided prompt for each discussion by Saturday end of day the week the assignment is due. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to at least 2 other classmates’ threads in at least 150 words each by the end of class week. The grading will be as follows: The initial response to the chosen question will be scored up to 35 points. The replies will be scored up to 10 points a piece. This allows a total score possible of 55 points. I will be grading these after the week ends and updating the scores based on the timeliness, quality of the answers, the number of words, and responses that are given.

- There will be a quiz given for each chapter of reading that you are assigned. They will be a selection of 20 True/False and multiple-choice questions taken from the content of the chapter. Quizzes are open book.
