Special Needs:

If you have a physical, psychiatric/emotional, medical, or learning disability that may impact your ability to carry out assigned course work, I urge you to contact the staff in the Office of Student Accessibility Services (SAS) at 909-389-3325. Please notify me if you are having problems getting the assistance you need.

Monitor Your Grade:

You can access you grades in the “my grades” section of Canvas. Remember, your grade displayed in Canvas only takes into account the assignments that you have submitted to date. I make every effort to record student scores accurately. However, it is much easier for you to keep up with one person’s grades (your own) than for me to keep up with hundreds of student grades. If you have questions about your grade on any assignment, please contact me within one week after the assignment was due.

Time Requirements to be Successful:

This is a 4-unit course which requires 4 hours of in-class time each week plus additional time spent outside of the classroom.  You should expect to spend more than 12 hours per chapter reading the textbook, PowerPoints, and taking practice quizzes.

For the Successful Student:

  • Login to Canvas daily
  • Regularly check your email
  • Read posted announcements
  • Read the online textbook
  • Take the practice quizzes
  • Review the chapter PowerPoints

Successful students take responsibility for themselves and their actions.  They get involved in their studies and are active participants in the learning process.  They actively listen, think, question, and take notes like someone in charge of their learning experience.  If you want something, go after it!

Successful students take notes that are understandable and organized and review them often. Taking notes allows the information to “move” from the ears and eyes through the brain to the hand.  Successful students’ login into Canvas every day and regularly check their email and the Canvas announcements. I send multiple emails through Canvas during the semester. The best way to succeed in this course and achieve the grade you would like is to complete and submit all course work on time.

Student Code of Conduct:

Students’ participation in this course will be expected to adhere to the Student Code of Conduct as published in the current college catalog. Willful misconduct "shall constitute good cause for discipline, including but not limited to the removal, suspension, or expulsion of a student”.

As a learning community of scholars, Crafton College emphasizes the ethical responsibility of all its members to seek knowledge honestly and in good faith. Students are responsible for doing their own work, and academic dishonesty of any kind will not be tolerated. Violations of academic integrity include, but are not limited to, cheating, plagiarism, or misrepresentation of information in oral or written form. Such violations will be dealt with severely by the instructor. Plagiarism means presenting someone else's idea or writing as if it were your own. If you use someone else's idea or writing, be sure the source is clearly documented.
