Course Description:

This course offers a comprehensive study of the dynamics operating in groups and families including the identification of healthy versus dysfunctional groups/families; methods of intervention, and techniques of facilitation treatment groups.

 


Student Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

Demonstrate the knowledge of the basic ingredients of a successful helper.

Recognize aspects of how to lead groups

Explore key ingredients for successful helper

Learn basic structures of group formation

Explore the beginning, middle and end stages of group

Explore techniques use to work with individuals and families

Identify the Impact of Values, Ethics and Legislation

Explore the impact of diversity with groups

No textbook for the class: PowerPoints assignments are referenced from  Dynamics and Skills of Group Counseling Edition 1 by: Lawrence Shulman and The Skilled Helper by G. Egan and R. Reese.
