This Fall Semester, the course I am trying something new. The course will be in person but with lecture materials and recorded resources provided online. Problem-Solving Sessions and Sectional Exams will take place on Wednesday mornings and Labs will take place on Wednesday afternoons . The course will use the print or online textbook (we do not use the Pearson Mastering Chemistry so be careful to buy just an online text or a PDF edition of the Text- much less expensive ask before you buy online-ask for link). The text is Introductory Chemistry, by Tro 6th edition - not ESSENTIALS and in either form it must be read, along with the lectures provided twice each week
Quizzes will be given online every weekend and will assume you have done the required homework. and regular Sectional and Mastery Exams will be given on Wednesday during the morning session. These exams may contain some multiple-choice questions, but most questions and problems will require student to supply the answer, draw diagram or solve simple problems. Communication will be via the Inbox or by my personal email, glessard@llu.edu. .
I will accept students through August 21. I will record the first Class Meeting, On Wednesday, August 18 at 9:35 for students who add late (you should have ZOOM on your computer) . The workload will commence on August 19 so if you were to enter later, you would have too much catching up to do. Thus, no student will be accepted after Saturday, August 21 since you would have little chance of catching up.
In addition, my contract with you for the course is found in the Syllabus Fall 2021 Syllabus.docx We will go over the syllabus in the class Organizational Meeting, thus the contents of the syllabus will be binding on all students.
The weekly content schedule Online Lecture Fall 21.docx provides you with the information as to what you need to study and the minimum set of problems you need to solve in order to be ready for the sectional examinations.
The Laboratory and Exam Schedule Fall Laboratory Schedule 21.docx provides weekly guidance for activities and exams - you can plan to be in session for around 1 hour [9:35-10:50] Wednesday morning and from 12:45-3:35 Wednesday afternoon) .
I will be available for personal help Wednesday mornings at 11:00 for up to an hour.
Please go over mine and my wife's recommended method for study. There are no shortcuts. Remember, you are learning how to study for the sciences and the health sciences in this class
