Human Service 170 Introduction to Human Service.  This course is an exploration of the historical and theoretical perspectives of human services in response to social problems. Examination of legal, ethical and problem-solving models are presented and implications of ethnic, gender, and cultural diversity issues are discussed.

Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:

  • Describe the goals, functions, and organization of contemplary human service;

    1. Evaluate significant trends in the historical development of human service as a response to social problems, learn skills for guiding helping interventions;
    2. Identify the implications of ethics, gender, and cultural religious diversity for contemplary human service workers.
    3.  Students will recognize the goals, functions, and organization of contemporary human services, as assessed by exams and written assignments.

      Students will identify the implications of ethnic, gender, and cultural and religious diversity, as assessed by exams, role play, and written assignments.
