Exam 1: Lecture Note Pages 1 - 32

Be sure to keep up with your learning and understanding of the topics by rewriting your lecture notes.

I will not post the remainder of the lecture notes for the course. A complete set was distributed in class.

Review the lecture notes before you view the PowerPoint (PPT) slides. You will be adding to the notes while viewing the PPT slides in lecture. Be sure to keep up with your learning and understanding of the topics by rewriting your lecture notes.

Textbook:

Chapter 1 and most of chapter 2 and two pages from Chapter 3 will be on exam 1.

Read textbook pages: 1 - 68 (Aromatic Compounds will be on exam 2). Be sure to read the information before it is covered in class. You will get an idea of the pace once the class has met a few times, don't read all 68 pages in the first sitting.
Read textbook pages 108 - 109 (Halogen-Containing Compounds)
Work on the problems within the chapter you are reading. Answers to selected problems are at the end of the chapter.
Also at the end of each chapter are more tools for your learning success, these include; Summary: revisiting Chapter Goals, Concept Map: Introduction to Organic Families, Key Words, Summary of Reactions, Understanding Key Concepts, and additional problems.

Mastering Chemistry: Visit the Study Area, and work on the activities. Complete the Reading quizzes, and HW questions assigned and submit before the due dates and times.

Reminder for Chapter 2: Any information or problems in Chapter 2 regarding Aromatic Compounds can be skipped. It will however be on Exam 2.
