Not all of your efforts to improve yourself take place on the field in fact may players make greater gains in the off season than they do during the season. The weight room is one area where these gains are made.

Have a Mission

Your mission for your career in softball should inspire your efforts in your off-season as well as your in-season workouts. In other words, your mission should help you get into the weight room.

Once you're there, have your workout designed so that you know what you want to accomplish when you walk in the room. The players who get the most out of their time in the weight room are the ones who have a sense of being on a mission.

Take It One Repetition at a Time

Keep a full focus on each rep. Your focus is a major sources of strength. Keep your mind in the muscle you are working. This focus enhances the quality of your repetitions.

Use Your Breath

The weight room is a great place to work with your breathing. You can breath before each set to psych your self up or to relax muscles you are about to use.

Stretching

In order to maintain or increase the all-important flexibility of your muscles, make sure you do a great job of stretching your muscles both before and after you lift.
