Instructions
I trust you to not take or share the exam with others, to do your own work, to not cheat, and to not use the internet for answers during the exam.
For the Final Exam, here are the conditions and note changes from other exams:
Time for exam: 60 minutes. The exam will be available from 8:00 am-9:10 am only on your exam day.
- To be clear: Use your time wisely, the exam will close after 60 minutes or 9:10 am, whichever comes first.
Number of Questions: 40 (5 points each = 200 points) + Integrity Question (3 extra credit points). Note that I may have some questions with multiple parts, so the number of questions of 40 may be approximate, the points are still 200 + 3. Canvas does not have a way to show extra credit, know that the possible point total in my grade book remains at 200.
- One Question will be displayed at a time, and answered questions will be locked, you cannot go back once you have answered the question.
You will not see the correct or incorrect choices. I have never let my final exam in my face-to-face course to be given back to students, so I am not sharing the final exam with your class either. You will only see your score for the exam.
It is OPEN Book and open notes!!
What do I mean by open note and open book?
This is a class on chemistry knowledge and skills, it is not a class on computer or internet searching skills. Your score on the exam is to reflect your mastery and knowledge of chemistry material, not how well and how fast you can look it up. The more you study, practice and learn, the easier the exam questions will be, and you will have plenty of time for the exam.
Open Note: Only notes you have created by studying the material, not something you find on the internet and simply downloaded. No searching the internet for answers to questions on the exam while you take the exam.
Open Book: You may use only a hard copy of the textbook or use the notes you wrote from reading the text as you studied.
Again, once you start the exam, you may not navigate away from the exam to go to a different site. You may not also have opened another electronic device such as another computer, a tablet, or your phone to reference while you take the exam.
You are not to give help nor receive help from others for the exam.
